They encourage children to repeatedly trace and draw the basic geometric shapes and match the name to the shape.
Younger children can use a finger to begin learning how to trace the letters, while older children who are ready for writing can use the included wooden stylus to develop the hand and finger strength required for a proper pencil grip.
When a child traces the shapes with their finger, their brain will receive sensory stimulation while developing an understanding of the shape. Doing the tracing repetitively will help ingrain in the brain the general shape while the hand develops the muscles needed to form and recognize letters and numbers later on.
Fill the shapes with colorful rice to improve fine motor skills and learn the colors. They can also be used with various other sensory materials like (play dough, corn, rice, split peas, beans etc…).
